Catherine’s POV~
After his meeting, I was dismissed without a word by Alexander. I ran out of the room. In a blink of an eye, it was already eleven at night. I was so exhausted and my body aches with all those work.
But I didn’t have time to take a nap, I must escape from here. I changed into denim shorts and a yellow top. It would be much comfortable while I run. His mansion was located in a much-secluded place and that’s going to be difficult for my escape.
The whole mansion was guarded by his warrior wolves, so my only chance was escaping through the woods. The time was half-past two in the morning. I took a torch and a knife from the kitchen and made my way out of the mansion through the backdoor.
I slowly yet softly tiptoed through the garden. The dark sky was illuminated by the moon and stars. I suddenly heard ruffling noises. I stunned in my spot and hid behind a nearby bush. It was a guard, he was sniffing the air.
“Why do I smell human?” he asked his companion. My heart started to hammer against my ribs, beads of sweat started to emerge from my forehead.
What do I do? I started to shake like a leaf.
“Yeah, you’re right. I too smell it.” They both sniffed in my direction and made slow predatory steps towards my hiding spot. I stopped breathing.
“Sam! Rick! You can guard the front,” a deep husky voice demanded.
“Yes, Alpha.” I heard them scurried away.
What the hell was he doing here?!
I tried to crawl back slowly, “Come out of your hiding spot!” Alexander demanded. His voice laced with anger.
When I didn’t respond and made a move, he yelled my name, “Catherine!” his voice boomed. I stood out from my hiding spot and dusted my shirt.
Boy! Someone was furious.
His eyes were throwing daggers at me, “Did you see my ring? It must be here,” I looked down and pretend to search my non-existing ring.
“Move away,” I looked near his feet and started to ruffle the leaves out of my way.
I slightly lifted my bead to get a glimpse of his face. He narrowed his eyes on me. He looked more handsome in the moonlight. I immediately looked down. What the hell was wrong with me, I scolded myself.
Alexander’s POV~
She slightly lifted her head to look at my expression when she realizes that I still narrowing my eyes on her she continued to pretend her search. I rolled my eyes at her childish behaviour.
“Catherine, stand up!” I ordered.
“Just a second, I’m not done searching,” she ignored me. I had enough of her childish tantrum. I grabbed her arm and jerked her up in standing position.
“Hey! What are you doing?” she protested. I threw her over my shoulder and made my way to her room.
“You handsome bastard, put me done! How dare you order me around, you lying asshole,” she pounded her fist against my back.
“Handsome bastard, huh?” I stopped near her bedroom and asked her with amusement clear in my voice.
“Wha…What handsome, I didn’t…say anything,” she stuttered. Her cheeks were turning red.
I dropped her on her feet, “Sure, you’re not,” I muttered under my breath with a smirk.
She ignored my comment and tried to escape from me. I caged her with my arms against her bedroom door. Her breath hitched, she looked at me with her big brown eyes.
Damn it!
It was really hard to resist her when she looked at me with those eyes of her.
“Look, kitten, if you think I’ll buy your bad acting skills then you are wrong. I don’t want you wandering around, especially at night. Did I make myself clear?” I warned her with my Alpha tone.
“Did I make myself clear?” I yelled when I didn’t get a response from her, she murmured a small yes.
Her eyes pricked with tears, I could see her trying hard to control her tears by biting her lower lip. To be honest, I felt bad for yelling at her.
I turned my back and walked to my room. “Let’s discuss your punishment tomorrow,” I stopped abruptly without turning to her side. With that statement, I made to my room.
Catherine’s POV~
As soon as his door locked behind him, I scurried into my room and let my tears fall freely down to cheeks. I lay on my bed and faced the ceiling. I brought my hands to my mouth to muffle my sobs.
Why heartbreak did hurts like a hell? I asked myself.
I clutched the left side of my chest, to stop my pain. I felt like ripping my heart out to soothe the pain. I curled into a tiny ball to protect myself from this nightmare but my attempt was fatal.
